You may also want to consider some protective gear that offers more complete protection for the entire face. Standard boxing headgear protects the top of the head and the ears, extending down a bit over the cheeks and jaw. 4. Don't use anything that's not sized properly. Proper sizing is extremely important for youth boxing equipment, particularly head gear. Something too large could block vision, hinder breathing or fail to pad the proper spots of the face and something too small could cut off circulation, make breathing difficult and so forth.
